How we choose machines

Beginner features first

We weight drop-in bobbins, automatic needle threaders, one-step buttonholes and speed control above stitch counts, because threading and bobbin trouble are what stop most new sewers.

Specs from the maker

Stitch counts, weights, included feet and needle systems come from manufacturer pages and manuals. If a spec is not published, or two sources disagree, we say so.

Research, not paid placement

We read manuals and owner feedback; we do not run a test lab. Brands cannot pay to be listed, and our Amazon commissions never change a recommendation.
